In case where its use is mandatory, Betaloc Zok may be employed during pregnancy and in nursing mothers.
As with all antihypertensive agents, β-blockers may cause side effects, e.g. bradycardia, and hypoglycemia in the fetus and in the new born and breast fed infant.
The amount of Betaloc Zok (metoprolol) ingested via breast milk seems to be negligible as regards β-blocking effect, if the mother is treated with Betaloc Zok (metoprolol) in doses within the normal therapeutic range.
