Spasler Neo TabletsSpasler Neo (Mebeverine hydrochloride) is myotropic antispasmodic, which acts through specific action on smooth muscle of gastrointestinal tract. It has little or no antispasmodic actions on smooth muscles of uterus and bronchi.

Spasler Neo (Mebeverine hydrochloride) does not affect autonomic nervous system, therefore its use is not associated with usual anticholinergic side effects. For this reason Spasler Neo (Mebeverine hydrochloride) can be prescribed in patients suffering from BPH or glaucoma.

Indications

Indications of Spasler Neo (Mebeverine hydrochloride) include the following:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome associated with diarrhea or constipation
  • Alternating constipation with diarrhea
  • Abdominal distension
  • Gastrointestinal spasm associated with organic diseases like diverticulitis, regional enteritis, duodenal ulcer, dysentery
  • Biliary dyskinesia

Dosage and Administration

The usual recommended dosage of Spasler Neo (Mebeverine hydrochloride) is one tablet of 135mg three times daily. The tablet should preferably be taken 20 minutes before meals.

Spasler Neo is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Spasler Neo Side Effects

Common side effects associated with the use of Spasler Neo are depression, headache, dizziness, diarrhoea and constipation. The use of Mebeverine is not associated with atropine-like side effects.

Use in Pregnancy

There are no studies to determine the safety of Spasler Neo (Mebeverine hydrochloride) in pregnancy; therefore it should be used during pregnancy only if benefits fully justify the risks to the mother or fetus.
