Leozin is generally well tolerated and not all patients experience Leozin Side Effects. However, in some patients, treatment with Levocetirizine might cause the following temporary side effects.

  • Tiredness
  • Lack of concentration
  • Somnolence
  • Headache
  • Agitation
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation

Hypersensitivity Reactions e.g. angioedema, photosensitivity reactions, liver damage, deafness, pruritus, vasculitis etc. 95% of the side effects are mild to moderate.

Warnings

  • Care should be taken while driving or operating machinery. It is better to avoid these activities during treatment with Leozin tablets since it may cause sedation. The patient should involve in such activities only when he knows that Leozin tablets do not cause sedation to him.
  • Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol should be avoided during therapy with Leozin tablets.

Precautions

  1. Use during Pregnancy
    Safety of Leozin tablets has not been tested in pregnant women. Though animal studies did not exhibit any direct or indirect toxicity during pregnancy, in terms of any effect on fetus, Leozin tablets should be used during pregnancy after doing risk benefit analysis.
  2. Use During Breastfeeding
    Since Levocetirizine is excreted into the milk, Leozin tablets should be prescribed during breastfeeding after doing the risk – benefit analysis.
  3. Use in Children
    Use of Leozin tablets has not been evaluated in children < 6 years of age.
Overdosage with Leozin tablets can cause somnolence. In such cases symptomatic/supportive measures should be undertaken.
